2010 NFL Mock Draft - v 5.0
The last 2010 mock draft. This one was hastily written. But enjoy anyways.
1. St. Louis Rams - QB Sam Bradford, Oklahoma. I have already talked about this to death. Although the fact that Bradford still is not signed means a trade could be in the works. Whoever picks here, it will be for Bradford.
2. Detroit Lions - DT Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska. The Lions get the top rated player in the draft and the first play making defensive player they have had since.....?
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DT Gerald McCoy, Oklahoma. McCoy is the perfect fit for the Bucks. I can't imagine that he is a better prospect then Suh though. Some people just like to stir up news.
4. Washington Redskins - OT Trent Williams, Oklahoma. I also don't think Trent Williams is better then Russell Okung, but Williams has moved up to the top of the offensive tackle boards, and could be a better fit for Shanny's blocking scheme.
5. Kansas City Chiefs - OT Russell Okung, Oklahoma St. I still think the Chiefs should go after Berry here, but if Okung is available it would be very difficult to pass up on him. If the Skins take him, they'd have a much tougher decision.
6. Seattle Seahawks - S Eric Berry, Tennessee. Even if Trent Williams was available I think the Seahawks would still lean towards Berry. With him and Okung both off the board, forget it. He's too much of a play maker to take anyone else. Plus the Seahawks showed last year with Aaron Curry that they can go BPA.
7. Cleveland Browns - S Earl Thomas, Texas. The Browns lose out on Berry. I really don't know what other direction they can go in. The secondary needs help. Earl Thomas is a good player, a top 15 talent, but is a reach here. Still, no one else makes as much sense.
8. Oakland Raiders - OT Bruce Campbell, Maryland. This will happen. Jesus Christ himself could still be on the board, and Al Davis would draft Campbell. He is probably a very late, early second round draft pick in actuality, but he will go over Baluga, Davis and Brown cause he ran a 4.70. That's all that matters, even if you are playing offensive tackle.
9. Buffalo Bills - QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame. The Bills will probably go the boring route and take Brian Baluga so they can have a new right tackle to trade away for a middle round pick in a few years. Maybe one day they will draft a player that some of their 3 remaining fans will give a crap about.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars - DE Derrick Morgan, Georgia Tech. Even before trading away Quentin Groves, this was a no brainer pick to me. No team is worse at rushing the passer. It's not like the Jaguars haven't tried, they just drafted a couple of busts and their signing, Aaron Kampman, might not even make a difference this year.
11. Denver Broncos (from Chicago Bears) - WR Dez Bryant, Oklahoma St. Some people would say that the Broncos are trading one problem for another, but they have to have someone to throw the ball to. Bryant's off the field "troubles" have been way overblown, and he is clearly the top receiver in this class.
12. Miami Dolphins - DE/OLB Brandon Graham, Michigan. Bill Parcells loves to draft linebackers in the first round. The Dolphins have a huge hole opposite Cameron Wake. Some might think this is a pretty big reach, but I think he'll do just fine as a pass rushing outside linebacker, and would much rather them draft that then a nose tackle.
13. San Francisco 49ers - OT Brian Baluga, Iowa. The Niners have to go with Baluga with this pick before the Seahawks snatch him next. I think he's going to end up being a very average right tackle, but the Niners have a huge need.
14. Seattle Seahawks (from Denver Broncos) - RB CJ Spiller, Clemson. Now that Baluga gone, this makes this pick easier. Spiller is the top offensive weapon in this draft, and the Seahawks could really use a play maker on this roster.
15. New York Giants - OG Mike Iupati, Idaho. The Giants don't really have any gigantic holes.Iupati could play either guard or tackle, he'll find a spot to start at on day one.
16. Tennessee Titans - DT Dan Williams, Tennessee. Williams completes his Tennessee tour after playing in Memphis (high school), Knoxville (college) and now Nashville (NFL). He may be a bigger fit as a nose tackle but the Titans are very undersized and could use his girth down low.
17. San Francisco 49ers (from Carolina Panthers) - OT Anthony Davis, Rutgers. Anthony Davis is very talented but suffers from some of the same things Michael Oher did last year, and we saw how he fell.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Kyle Wilson, Boise St. Many say Kyle Wilson will end up being the first cornerback taken, and I agree. William Gay hasn't ended up being the starting quality cornerback the Steelers have wanted.
19. Atlanta Falcons - OLB Sean Weatherspoon, Missouri. The Falcons could opt to go for a couple of more talented projects, but they opt to go the safe route and get an immediate starter. He may never be a Pro Bowler, but he should be solid.
20. Houston Texans - RB Ryan Mathews, Fresno St. I won't change this pick, no matter who is available. I really want to see what this Texans offense can do with a true 20 carry per game back. Now Steve Slaton can excel in the situation he is built for.
21. Cincinnati Bengals - DE Jason Pierre-Paul, South Florida. Not the Bengals biggest need, but someone will take a chance on his talent. He will probably go higher then this, though.
22. New England Patriots - DE/OLB Sergio Kindle, Texas. The Patriots need to actually start drafting some pass rushers.
23. Green Bay Packers - CB Joe Haden, Florida. Joe Haden is an absolute steal here. The Packers get their nickle back and 2011 starter.
24. Philadelphia Eagles - CB Kareem Jackson, Alabama. The Eagles miss out on Haden by one pick but draft a nickle back and 2011 starter of their own.
25. Baltimore Ravens - DE/DT Jared Odrick, Penn St. The Ravens have been linked to Odrick for a while. He will be a good end in a 3-4 defense.
26. Arizona Cardinals - MLB Rolando McClain, Alabama. No, I didn't forget about McClain. But one player falls much further then expected on draft day and McClain is my 2010 guess. He is big, slow and plodding, meaning a team like the Giants won't really want him. The Cardinals will gladly take him this late, though. He's a 3-4 middle linebacker.
27. Dallas Cowboys - OT Charles Brown, USC. Flozell Adams is FINALLY gone. Brown can play behind Doug Free and claim the right tackle job in 2011 if Free shows he is the real deal.
28. San Diego Chargers - CB Devin McCourty, Rutgers. The Chargers need a running back but you have to go with who's available. And Jahvid Best would not be the guy they need here. Terrence Cody is a monsterous pile of crap that can hardly run the 40 in under 6 seconds. The Chargers could use cornerback depth after trading Cromartie.
29. New York Jets - OG/C Maurkice Pouncey, Florida. Alan Feneca is in his last days with the Jets, and they love to use first round picks on the line, even interior players.
30. Minnesota Vikings - S Taylor Mays, USC. The Vikings won't be able to draft a player here who will make a difference, so they go with Mays. Draft him now, figure out what to do with him later.
31. Indianapolis Colts - OT Rodger Saffold, Indiana. Tony Ugoh has been a bust, so they draft his replacement.
32. New Orleans Saints - DE Everson Griffen, USC. The Saints will just go with best defensive player available their first few rounds.
