2010 NFL Mock Draft - v 3.1
New mock draft for week 12. Short commentary for each pick.
1. Cleveland Browns - QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame. Quinn had a good week against possibly the worst secondary in the NFL. No one is fooled.
2. St. Louis Rams - QB Jake Locker, Washington. I've explained this to death. The Rams need a new QB.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DT Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska. I finally changed my Dunlap to the Bucs pick, which I've had since preseason. Suh is the most talented player in this draft. There is no player other then QB's who should be taken over him.
4. Detroit Lions - DE Derrick Morgan, Georgia Tech. I can't ignore the production. Morgan moves up over Dunlap in my draft for the first time. He has had a much more productive season and has great size and speed as well.
5. Seattle Seahawks - DT Gerald McCoy, Oklahoma. As the Broncos keep losing the Seahawks might have to change their strategy of taking a QB with their second pick. But for now they still go with that DT they have been looking for for years.
6. Washington Redskins - QB Sam Bradford, Oklahoma. Another week, another game where Jason Campbell just couldn't make plays.
7. Buffalo Bills - S Eric Berry, Tennessee. Eric Berry may slip in the draft a bit. Not cause he isn't great, but because he's simply a safety. The Bills have a huge hole in their secondary (and everywhere else).
8. Oakland Raiders - DE Carlos Dunlap, Florida. This would be good for the Raiders. Al Davis still gets his workout freak, but this time at a position where they actually need help.
9. Kansas City Chiefs - OT Russell Okung, Oklahoma St. No explanation needed here. The Chiefs weakest position is the offensive line.
10. Denver Broncos (from Chicago Bears) - DE/DT Arthur Jones, Syracuse. I definitely think the Broncos need to get a quarterback. Neither Orton or Simms should be starting in the NFL. But they are in a tough position right here. Jones is slept on and the best in the next wave of DT's after the big two. He could play end in the 3-4.
11. San Francisco 49ers - MLB Rolando McClain, Alabama. Willis is a monster, but Singletary might not be able to resist a true 3-4 linebacker playing next to him.
12. New York Jets - WR Dez Bryant, Oklahoma St. The Jets already have Edwards and Cotchery but could choose to just go with a three headed monster at the position.
13. Tennessee Titans - DE Greg Hardy, Mississippi. The Titans defensive line was decimated by free agency, so they need to add talent to the position.
14. San Francisco 49ers (from Carolina Panthers) - S Taylor Mays, USC. The Niners go star power here like they did last year with Crabtree.
15. Atlanta Falcons - CB Joe Haden, Florida. The Falcons need to take the best defensive player available.
16. Houston Texans - RB Jonathan Dwyer, Georgia Tech. Steve Slaton could be a great change of pace back, like a Ahmad Bradshaw type. But the Texans need their Brandon Jacobs.
17. Baltimore Ravens - CB Kareem Jackson, Alabama. The Ravens have 2 nicklebacks starting. They need a talent upgrade here.
18. Miami Dolphins - DE/OLB Jerry Hughes, TCU. Dolphins need to groom a pass rusher behind two future Hall of Famers.
19. Green Bay Packers - OT Brian Baluga, Iowa. Aaron Rodgers is great...as long as he isn't on his ass.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers - OT Anthony Davis, Rutgers. Steelers are solid everywhere, but still lack talent on the offensive line.
21. Jacksonville Jaguars - DE Greg Romeus, Pittsburgh. Jaguars are the worst pass rushing team in the NFL.
22. Philadelphia Eagles - MLB Brandon Spikes, Florida. Maybe after they bring Jeremiah Trotter back for the 8th time, they'll decide to upgrade the position.
23. Seattle Seahawks (from Denver Broncos) - QB Ryan Mallett, Arkansas. Matt Hasselbeck simply cannot stay healthy anymore.
24. New York Giants - OLB Greg Jones, Michigan St. Greg Jones is a beast in college, and the Giants need to add talented linebackers.
25. Arizona Cardinals - DT Terrence Cody, Alabama. Cody could either become a disruptive force that makes the Cardinals defense go, or another disappointment like Alan Branch and Gabe Watson.
26. Cincinnati Bengals - RB CJ Spiller, Clemson. I still don't buy Cedric Benson as being for real. Even if he is, Spiller will be a tremendous weapon.
27. San Diego Chargers - RB Jahvid Best, California. Tomlinson has admitted that he may be close to the end, and Sproles isn't worth the money. Chris Johnson is showing that quick small running backs can excel.
28. Dallas Cowboys - OT Trent WIlliams, Oklahoma. Flozell Adams is like 84 years old and should be cut.
29. New England Patriots - QB Tim Tebow, Florida. Explained my reasoning for this pick a hundred times.
30. Minnesota Vikings - QB Colt McCoy, Texas. Favre gets to groom his replacement. If he ever retires that is.
31. New Orleans Saints - DT Marvin Austin, North Carolina. Saints could have a great defensive line.
32. Indianapolis Colts - CB Patrick Robinson, Florida St. Marlin Jackson and Bob Sanders will be gone.
